Built in 1940, the Democracy Monument in central Bangkok was designed by Corrado Feroci, who spent much of the 1920s designing monuments for Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. It commemorates the 1932 revolution which ended the absolute monarchy and established Thailand's first constitution.
